Visit by Hong Kong General Tai Shan Clansmen Association Limited

A delegation of 20 members from Hong Kong General Tai Shan Clansmen Association Limited (HKGTSCA), led by its Founding President Mr. William Chan, BBS, JP and Honorary Chairperson Ms. Miriam Lau, GBS, JP, paid a visit to the University on 30 October 2012. They were warmly received by Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor; Professor Frank Fu, MH, JP, Associate Vice-President and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement. The delegation was briefed on the uniqueness of Whole Person Education at HKBU and the latest developments of the University.

HKGTSCA is a young and energetic association established in 2005 with currently around 3,000 members. The Association is committed to providing financial support to needy students and organising various activities to strengthen the ties among Tai Shan clansmen. In his speech, Mr. William Chan commended HKBU as an outstanding University with its recent achievements in different aspects and he expected future collaboration opportunities between the Association and HKBU. Mr. Chan kindly pledged to make a donation of HK$250,000 to the University during the visit.

The visit began with an introduction on the development of the School of Business by Professor Stephen Cheung, BBS, JP, Dean of Business. The guests then visited the Academy of Film and the School of Chinese Medicine to gain a better understanding of the teaching and research activities at HKBU through the introduction of Dr. Sobel Chan, Senior Lecturer of Academy of Film, and Professor Zhao Zhongzhen, Associate Dean of Chinese Medicine. After the visit, Professor Chan hosted a lunch for the delegation joined by Mr. Andy Lee, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary, and HKBU representatives.
