Visit by The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong

Dr. David Wong, JP, President of The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong (CMA), together with more than 30 members of the Association, paid a visit to the University on 23 November 2010. The delegation included, among others, Mrs. Ngan Ng Yu Ying, Katherine, JP, Vice President of CMA; Mr. Paul Leung, SBS, Chief Executive Officer of CMA; Mr. Ng Ching Wun, Mr. Joseph Lee, SBS, JP, Mr. Ho Yuk Wing, Mr. Joseph Lau, BBS, JP, Executive Committee Members of CMA; and Dr. C. B. Chiu, DBA (Hon), MBE, JP, General Committee Member of CMA.

Established in 1934, CMA is one of the most representative industrial associations in Hong Kong, with over 3,000 member companies from various sectors of industry and trade. Professor Albert S.C. Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Wong, for his unfailing support to the University and wise counsel on the University's development. Professor Chan wished to explore the feasibility of future collaboration with CMA in order to nurture all-round achievers for the community.

In his speech, Dr. Wong praised the graduates of HKBU for their personal attributes and outstanding performance. He added that CMA agreed with the University's philosophy of Whole Person Education and expected that the visit would enhance the mutual understanding between CMA and the University.

The visit began with an introduction on the development of the School of Business by Professor Stephen Cheung, BBS, JP, Dean of Business. The delegation then visited the School of Chinese Medicine and the newly built Communication and Visual Arts (CVA) Building. They also met with Professor Franklin Luk, Vice-President (Academic); Professor Frank Fu, MH, JP, Associate Vice-President and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation; Professor Chung Ling, Associate Vice-President and Dean of Arts; Professor Wendy Hsiao, Acting Dean of Chinese Medicine; Professor Zhao Xinshu, Dean of Communication; Dr. Cheuk Pak-tong, Director of the Academy of Film; Dr. Lo Wai-luk, Associate Professor of the Academy of Film; as well as Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement.
